Azets open Plymouth office

Azets has launched a new Plymouth office, located in Sutton Harbour. The new office shows Azets’ continued investment in the West Country and will house specialists in audit, business advisory, restructuring and insolvency.

The office, which opened at the end of July, is being headed up by Laura Pingree and Duncan Swift. Laura is the firm’s regional head of audit, whilst Duncan leads the restructuring & insolvency services team – the new office marks a return to Plymouth for both.

Laura commented: “The pandemic has accelerated changes in delivery of accountancy services to clients and Azets, with its extensive technology platforms, is at the forefront.”

Laura is a Plymothian by birth, educated at Devonport High School. With a wealth of experience across businesses of all sizes following her time at a Big-4 firm, Laura’s interest lies in natural resources, energy and renewables and shipping.

Duncan who was brought up in Devon and educated at Okehampton College, trained as a chartered accountant with a Big-4 firm in London where he specialised in restructuring and insolvency, before joining Azets in April 2021.

With a host of experience working with local companies such as Holmans Ship Repair Yard, Keith Floyd’s Inn and Devon Desserts, he also specialises in farming and food. In 2019/20 he was President of R3, the UK trade body for restructuring and insolvency professionals.

Duncan added: “Through deep accountancy expertise allied with market leading technology we’re confident of building a Plymouth team of more than 30 staff within three years, to work alongside our existing teams in Truro, Launceston, Tavistock, Holsworthy and South Molton, and to serve as a springboard to develop our services in Exeter, Barnstaple, Tiverton and Taunton”.
