I have over 20 years’ experience delivering public sector internal audit, external audit and advisory services to public sector and charity organisations across the UK. My clients have included NHS Trusts, Universities and Colleges, the Scottish Government and Scottish Parliament, a range of NDPBs and government agencies, local authorities and health boards. I have also acted for a number of charities, including the National Trust for Scotland.
I have had a number of significant achievements during my career. I am particularly proud to have been Chair of CIPFA in Scotland and to have built a successful public sector practice in Scotland.
Recently, I have been involved in supporting Audit Scotland in preparing their Local Government Overview report, helping an NHS Trust in England develop a medium term financial model, supporting a governance review in a large housing association, and developing the new Code of Practice for local government through my work with CIPFA LASAAC.
My public sector team is made up of dedicated professionals who, like many in this sector, have a public service ethos and commitment to improve and develop our public services. The aspect of my role that I most enjoy is talking to clients about the issues they face and acting as a trusted advisor and critical friend to help those clients develop effective and sustainable solutions to their challenges.
