Formerly the Edinburgh and District Master Builders' Charitable Trust, Scottish Charity Number SC029604.

The Trust is long established by Trust Deed and was reconstituted in December 1999 with a change of name in October 2007.

The Trust's objectives are to:

  • Provide financial support to persons in reduced circumstances who are or have been involved with the building trade in Edinburgh and the Lothians, and also to spouses, children or other dependant relatives of qualifying beneficiaries.
  • Advance education by giving scholarships to students in local universities and colleges (Heriot-Watt University, Napier University, West Lothian College and Edinburgh College) who are involved in skills relating to the building industry.
  • Provide prizes and awards to the above organisations to encourage skills relating to the building trade.

The Trust invites applications from persons in reduced circumstances, who should complete and return the form below:

Grants are also given to university and college students in need. Representatives of the Trust liaise with the local universities and colleges who arrange applications and interviews. Up to £16,000 per annum is available for scholarships to deserving students.

The application form should be completed and forwarded to the appropriate department of the university or college.

All awards are made at the discretion of the Trustees.
