The Society was founded in 1805 and constituted under the Royal Charter of Incorporation in 1903. Scottish Charity Number SC004365.
The Society gives assistance to persons under state retirement age in Scotland who have ceased to work on account of having an incurable illness. The Society normally considers those who have ceased employment within the last 10 years. An allowance is given half yearly to assist in providing extra help. Please see application form for medical criteria.
Funds available
Around £100,000is available for annuity distributions each year. Annuitants currently receive £540 per annum, payable in half yearly instalments.
Around £10,000 is available for distribution each year to assist with one-off emergencies.
