Digital Skills Gap: Why analytics skills are in demand

Digital transformation in many organisations has accelerated this year. The need for accountants with data analytics skills has never been higher.

The World Economic Forum’s (WEF) recent Future of Jobs Report 2020 explores how automation, in tandem with the COVID-19 recession, is creating a ‘double-disruption’ scenario. The report forecasts a significant shift in tasks, jobs and skills within the next five years, with accounting and auditing being in the top four areas impacted, and data analytics and data science being the biggest area of growth.

Azets were selected to work with the ICAEW to develop their Data Analytics Certificate Programme. Members of our Data Analytics team have been working with training provider Kaplan and the ICAEW to develop the courses which support this programme since late 2019, providing the specialist content and case studies that will enable participants on the course to get a strong understanding of data analytics.

Having a strong understanding of data, and being able to work with data, will increasingly be necessary skills for finance professionals. In the below article Fraser Nicol, the UK lead for Azets Business Technology Consulting team discusses the increasing demand for data analytics skills and the importance of the Data Analytics Certificate Programme.
