This Society was incorporated by Charter or Seal of Cause granted by the Magistrates of Glasgow in 1791. Scottish Charity Number SC010281.

The principal objectives of the Society are:

  • To give financial assistance to such children of deceased Ministers of the Church of Scotland and shall require and be deserving of it.
  • To grant financial assistance to such children of Ministers of the Church of Scotland as shall require and be deserving of it to meet the costs of attending university or postgraduate training with preference to those children who are training for the ministry or mission work of the Church of Scotland.

Funds available

Around £45,000 is available for distribution each year. Grants in support of children of deceased Minister range from £600 to £2,430. Grants in connection with education and training range from £280 to £1,750 per annum.

Applications

Applications from children of deceased Ministers (whatever age) may apply at any time.

Applications for grants for university students should download the appropriate form, complete and return it to the Secretary & Treasurer. Applications should be sent in no later than 31 May each year and grants are distributed by early September.

This Society co-operates with the Society for the Benefit of Sons and Daughters of the Clergy of the Church of Scotland and the Esdaile Trust in the distribution of grants for the benefit of students.
