Launceston is an old market town which was the capital of Cornwall until 1835. It’s Norman Castle dominates the landscape, and in medieval times patrolled access across the River Tamar into Cornwall. The town is now situated on the main A30 artery into the West Country peninsula and is still often referred to as “The Gateway to Cornwall”.
The town centre is home to many retail businesses, while the trading estates on the outskirts of the town at Pennygillam, Scarne and Newport have a variety of retail, manufacturing and service industries. Located in the Tamar Valley it is in the heart of a rural area and is a central location for the whole of Devon and Cornwall. The Azets office was once the local hospital and the practice has been providing accountancy services and business advice since 1947. It is situated near the town centre on Western Road.
