My work predominantly involves the external audit of financial statements for clients. For public sector clients, this extends to review of governance arrangements and areas such as asset management, risk management, financial management and performance. My clients include North Lanarkshire Council, NHS Health Scotland and the Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland.
The part of my job I enjoy the most is responding to technical accounting queries and the biggest achievement in my career so far is contributing to our Audit Scotland tender in 2010 and successfully obtaining a five year appointment for the firm.
I am a member of the Local Authority Accounting Panel (LAAP), which focuses on local government accounting and financial reporting issues and produces guidance for practitioners.
