Julian became a partner in a predecessor firm in April 2014, having spent the previous 29 years in the profession in Salisbury, Southampton and Havant.
Whilst having a background assisting businesses with their general accounting, tax and audit requirements, in 2021 he stepped away from audit work and to specialise in tax planning for both individuals and businesses, alongside regular tax enquiry and litigation, business valuation and expert witness work. He enjoys working with clients to ensure that the advice they receive reflects commercial and family realities. He also provides specialist advisory services to other accountants.
He is a member of the South Coast Chapter of the VAT Practitioners Group and has been a regular chair of discussion groups at Chartered Institute of Taxation Conferences. For many years Julian has joined BBC Radio Solent to comment live on the budget and other tax or financial stories. He also writes occasionally for technical publications. He also ‘tweets’ on tax matters as @jlsTax.
