I work within Azets public sector team as internal audit director. My current portfolio is focused on central government and education, but I also have experience outwith the public sector, having worked across both the corporate and charity sectors. I was named in 'ICAS Top 35 Under 35' in 2016 and Charity Finance Magazine’s 'Top 25 Under 35' in 2015 for my work within the charity and third sectors.
Outwith the firm, I am a member of the ICAS Audit and Assurance Panel and the IIA’s Regional Committee for Scotland, helping to support the wider profession and internal audit practitioners. I have also sat as an independent trustee and vice-chair of a local authority leisure trust, which has given me a first-hand experience of the challenges boards face, as well as the role that internal audit can play in helping to support good governance.
An accountancy graduate of the University of Glasgow, I qualified as a Chartered Accountant (CA) in 2010 and joined Azets in January 2015. I am also qualified as a Chartered Internal Auditor (CMIIA). Prior to joining Azets, I spent several years working in in-house internal audit teams, both within the public sector and with a private company. This has given me a more hands-on understanding of the challenges that can face organisations when implementing internal audit recommendations and the need to be practical when managing change.
