When Turtle Pack Founder, Michael Harkins, ran his own swimming school whilst at university he was using 4 or 5 different products to teach children how to swim. Following some research Michael realised there was no ‘one tool’ swimming aid and he went on to invent Turtle Pack - a fun, innovative product used by children aged 2+ across the world to learn how to swim. From creation in 2015 to today the business is going from strength to strength – most recently having just partnered with Nickelodeon to develop a Limited Edition Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles®️ Swim Float. CEO Ryan Carenduff discusses the business journey, working with Azets and the future for Turtle Pack.
The Turtle Pack team began working with Azets following a competition that saw them win funding and business support and advice.
The team were at a critical stage in their business journey, looking to secure funding to drive the business forward. The competition offering business advice was unique and also key to growth as the team were looking for accounting and financial assistance.
Reflecting on the meeting of both teams Ryan says the Azets team were exemplary, supportive and went above board at every juncture, commenting ‘what Azets has done for us is remarkable’.
The many ways in which Turtle Pack and Azets have worked together, Ryan says “highlights just how much Azets have been involved in the journey of Turtle Pack”.
From business applications, VAT considerations, implementing financial management processes such as Xero, right through to equity investment and preparing the team for investment via pitches in the boardroom with Azets staff, Turtle Pack and Azets have worked on it all together.
Ryan notes that the personal touch from Azets make Turtle Pack feel like ‘you have someone in your corner’.
The Turtle Pack team were keen to know the detail on investing, funding and financial management – Fiona Robertson, Corporate Finance Director at Azets, Ryan comments, talked the team through everything they needed to know and was on hand to support when needed.
The team at Azets are on hand, professional, supportive and a trusted business advisor to our team. The accounting and business support offered to us is so impactful and the network of contacts within the business has been invaluable. We really feel we work with a team that care about our business and our ambitions and are committed to supporting us. They have provided accounting and business support, helped us secure investment, implement accounting technology to help grow our business and been on hand with any questions we have. It is no understatement to say I don’t believe we would be sitting where we are today without the help from the team at Azets.Ryan Carenduff, CEO - Turtle Pack
When the team looked to secure further investment during lockdown, Fiona worked tirelessly with the team on options, introducing the team to the Azets network and a ‘match made in heaven’ investor was found.
Perhaps one of the biggest achievements Ryan says is ‘For us to go and secure investment for a learn to swim consumer product, during lockdown, when pools aren’t open across the world shows the strength of the company and that comes from the stakeholders involved and Azets play a fundamental role in that too.’
The priority for the team is focus – with two products to market, the team are focussing all efforts on sharing the products with the consumers they cater for.
Following the successful partnership with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles®️, Ryan and the team are also looking to growth export markets. And the team are representing Scotland in Atlanta at the Scottish Development International’s (SDI) Gift and Home Show.
With many projects and plans in the pipeline, Ryan is very excited for the future of Turtle Pack.
